Mazza Shawarma: Grilled Pita with Garlic-Curry Dip, Sizzling Beef Shawarma, and more

Mazza Shawarma

Found this Shawarma and Kebab place just near our office at McKinley Hill -- Mazza Shawarma. An officemate said that the food aren't good and so I didn't bother checking the place. But one lovely evening, I mustered the courage to finally try it and decide on my own if this place is good or not. Well, this is another unfortunate instance when I only have the 2MP camera of my cellphone with me to take pictures of the food. But I hope this will still give you an idea of what they offer.

Mazza Shawarma - ambiance

The place isn't that big and you might find yourself as a waiting customer during dinner hours if you opted to dine in. But even with this small place, it managed to have a wonderful interior. I loved the red wall with black and white details paired with modern ceiling lights.

Grilled Pita with Garlic-Curry Dip (70Php)

For only 70Php, this is already good for sharing. The garlic-curry dip was great. I am not very fond of curry but for this, I enjoyed the hint of curry and the overall flavor with garlic.

Sizzling Beef Shawarma (170Php)
Beef shawarma served on a sizzling plate with pita bread and chopped vegetables

This is really designed for sharing and you have to make your own shawarma by rolling the pita into a cone shape and adding the ingredients as desired. Fresh from the sizzling plate, the beef pieces were soft, flavorful, and sufficient for two servings. But the supposedly chopped vegetables were just diced tomatoes and onions. I wish there more like sliced cabbage maybe?

Beef Keema Meal (100Php)

Haven't tried keema anywhere else and so I don't know what to expect from it. But this keema is bursting with flavor and can be greatly enjoyed with rice or pita. It isn't spicy and so you may want to add some hot sauce for a kick. Nevertheless, plain or with spices, this is a great choice.

Chicken Kebab Stick (40Php)

Aside from being tender, what I like about this chicken kebab is that it isn't too grilled yet well-marinated with spices and flavors. It could be the tastiest chicken breast I've tasted.

We've experienced different types of Middle Eastern food, all (including two Bottomless Red Iced Tea at 45Php each) for just less than 500Php. We were full and satisfied, and we even had to take out some of the grilled pita that we were not able to finish. My verdict -- Mazza Shawarma is going to be a habit!
