If you’re a photographer or filmmaker, you know how important good lighting is. On World Photography Day 2025 last August 19, 2025, I had the chance to experience something truly exciting as Godox officially launched in the Philippines! The event, held at Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City and hosted by JG Distribution, brought together creatives of all kinds: photographers, videographers, filmmakers, directors, and content creators. More than just a product launch, it was a celebration of artistry, innovation, and the growing creative community here in the country.

What I loved most about this event was the opportunity to see and try Godox lighting products up close. From portable LED lights for content creation to powerful strobes and continuous lights for studios and film production, we got to explore how different setups can completely transform a shot.
The interactive “touch and try” stations were a big highlight for me -- it wasn’t just about looking at gear, it was about testing how light can work for our own style. On top of that, brand partners like Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, Lumix, Audio-Technica, Shure, Sandisk, IM Rentals, Atomm Studios, Mono Studios, and I Am Abi Masterclass also showcased their innovations, making the event feel like a creative playground.
A Celebration of Creativity
The program officially opened with heartfelt remarks from Jill Tan, Founder & Vice President of JG Distribution, followed by Ally Xiong of Godox Global and Mulawin Galang, Godox Philippines Brand Manager, who shared insights about Godox’s global mission and its exciting entry into the Philippine market.
Hearing the testimonials from two of the country’s top equipment rental companies made me realize just how trusted Godox has already become. Kirk Baltazar of CMB Film Services Inc. shared, “The majority of the lights we are now using are Godox,” while Rafa Laperal of RSVP Film Studios explained how Godox lighting has strengthened their workflow and provided reliable solutions for demanding projects. As someone who got to experience the products firsthand, these stories hit differently. It was clear that Godox isn’t just a new brand here, it’s already shaping the industry.

The vibe of the event was celebratory all throughout. There were raffle prizes, special promos, and even a high-energy live performance from Mayonnaise that had everyone singing along. Food and drinks from partners like Siomai House, Empanada Royale, Dydo Blend, Naru Cafe, Nutrifizz, Sip Water, and Tomoro Coffee kept us energized during the long but fun day. Honestly, it felt like a mini creative festival where we could learn, connect, and celebrate together.
Final Thoughts
Looking back, what stood out to me the most was how this launch was about more than just lights and gear -- it was about building a creative community. As Jill Tan perfectly said,
This launch is more than just about products -- it’s about building a community where Filipino creators can be inspired, equipped, and empowered.
I left the event feeling inspired, not only because I got to test incredible lighting equipment, but also because I felt part of something bigger -- a community of storytellers ready to bring their visions to life. With Godox officially in the Philippines, we now have world-class lighting solutions right at our fingertips, opening up endless possibilities for both professionals and aspiring creatives.
