| Unveiling Ayala Malls Arca South Taguig |
Ayala Malls Arca South opens as the first in a new generation of Ayala Malls, introducing a more integrated and community-centered retail experience in one of Taguig’s emerging districts.
Last May 04, I got to visit Ayala Malls Arca South during its unveiling event attended by members of the media, Ayala Land and Ayala Malls representatives, and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano. Hosted by KC Montero, the event offered guests a first look at the mall’s key spaces including Fresh Grounds, Kulinarya Food Hall, Main Street, The Crates, and The Souk.

Even though parts of the development are still ongoing, the mall already gives a strong sense of the more relaxed and community-driven direction Ayala Malls is taking -- with thoughtfully curated spaces designed for everyday dining, coffee runs, family hangouts, and moments to simply slow down and unwind.

According to Paul Birkett, Chief Operating Officer of Ayala Malls, the concept behind the development reflects how people now use public spaces.
At Ayala Malls, we have learned that retail works best when it becomes part of people’s everyday routines
he shared.
Ayala Malls Arca South was designed around that belief. By giving people more reasons to come often, stay longer, and move naturally through the space, we create stronger conditions for our merchants to be discovered, visited, and woven into the life of the community.
Designed for Everyday Living
Unlike traditional enclosed malls, Ayala Malls Arca South was designed as a more open and layered environment. The layout encourages natural movement between indoor and outdoor areas, while the overall aesthetic combines industrial materials with softer finishes and ambient lighting.![]() |

As someone who usually gets drained by overly crowded malls, I appreciated that the spaces here didn’t feel too compressed or overwhelming. There were open areas where people could comfortably walk around, sit, and actually enjoy staying for a while instead of just hopping from one store to another.

That was probably what I noticed most during the unveiling. Even with guests exploring the mall, the atmosphere still felt relatively relaxed.

This direction aligns with Ayala Malls’ broader vision of creating spaces that become part of people’s daily routines rather than simply functioning as retail destinations.
Fresh Grounds Brings Café Culture Into One Space
Naturally, the area I spent the most time checking out was Fresh Grounds.![]() |
| Fresh Grounds |
Described as Ayala Malls’ first dedicated coffee roastery zone, Fresh Grounds draws inspiration from both global café culture and the Filipino tradition of merienda.

| Ahon Coffee |
The space currently features several cafés and pastry concepts including Ahon, Saigon Coffee, Matcha Tokyo, Caramia, and more. As someone who enjoys discovering café spots around Taguig, this was easily the part of the mall I could already see myself returning to.

| Fresh Grounds easily became my favorite zone! |
I liked that the area didn’t feel intimidating or overly curated for social media photos alone. It still felt functional -- somewhere you could casually meet friends, grab coffee after errands, work for a few hours, or simply sit down and slow things a bit.
Main Street Creates a More Open Community Atmosphere
Another area that caught my attention was Main Street, an outdoor green space designed for more relaxed and flexible gatherings.![]() |
| Food trucks at the Main Street |
The area was lined with food stalls and food trucks, which gave the entire space a more casual and welcoming feel. Instead of feeling like a formal mall setup, it reminded me more of an open community space where people could simply hang out and enjoy good food.

| Rides and entertainment for kids |
I also noticed how family-friendly the setup already was. Kids had different rides and attractions to enjoy while adults could comfortably stay around the dining areas nearby.

According to Ayala Malls, Main Street was intentionally designed as a place where people can “slow down, take a break, and spend time without needing a fixed plan.” The flexible setup also allows the space to host pop-ups, light events, and community activities in the future.
Spaces Designed to Grow With the Community
Ayala Malls Arca South also introduces specialty zones such as The Crates and The Souk, which were designed as adaptable spaces that can evolve together with the growing Arca South district. These areas are expected to accommodate new concepts, services, and merchants over time as the community continues to expand.![]() |
| The Crates |
Beyond retail, the development is also expected to support the local economy through employment opportunities, merchant partnerships, and access to a growing market within the estate.

What I appreciated about the overall concept is that Ayala Malls Arca South doesn’t immediately feel like it’s trying too hard to become a “destination.” Instead, it feels like a space that wants to grow naturally alongside the community around it.

| Construction is still ongoing on 2nd phase but already worth visiting! |
The grand opening of Ayala Malls Arca South is scheduled for October 2026, but visitors can already explore and enjoy many of its spaces today.
For those within Taguig or nearby areas looking for a more relaxed and community-driven destination, Ayala Malls Arca South is already worth visiting even before its full completion.
