Draft Gastropub: Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, Sausages, and more!

Draft Gastropub Oktoberfest Series

I was there last October 15, 2016 as Draft Gastropub had its first leg of the Oktoberfest Series in their Greenbelt branch. There were live music, lots of food, games, and of course, beer! I even won in the arm wrestling challenge! Hooray!
live music with Abby Asistio

But what made this event different was that Draft took us back to Oktoberfest history in Germany with its Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier. This special brew is still the same as it was over 200 years ago when it was originally created for the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig  to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Now, even in our country, we enjoy this lively annual festivity.
Beer Maids

I no longer drink anything alcoholic but with that deep history, I got curious with Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier and had a sip. I find it lightsmooth, and malty. The kind that even if it's no longer ice cold, there's no bitterness.

Oktoberfest Sausages (450Php)
Any sausage you choose comes with two sides. Choose from the following: Sauerkraut Mashed Potato, Pilaf Rice, Frites, Creamed Sauerkraut, Corn Succotash, Double Baked Mashed Potatoes, Mash and Gravy, Spaetzle
Andouille SausageBockwurst Sausage
Bratwurst SausageItalian Sausage

To pair this authentic Oktoberfest beer, Draft also prepared Oktoberfest Sausages. A serving comes with a choice of two sides.

This is my second time in Draft (the first was when they launched the Quarter Specials for Q2 Y16) and I'm glad to try other items in their menu.

Mozzarella Nuggets (320Php)
Cubes of mozzarella breaded and fried, served with tomato sauce
Mozzarella Nuggets

My usual problem with mozzarella sticks is that they get boring over time. So having it in cubes as in this Mozzarella Nuggets is a brilliant idea. The breading also provides a complementing flavor and texture to the cheese. The tomato sauce is a perfect matching dip.

Chicken Tenders (225Php)
Crispy fried chicken tenders served with sour cream and sweet chili dipping sauce
Chicken Tenders

These are huge Chicken Tenders (probably why they're not called "chicken fingers"). It has thin yet crispy coating. The sour cream and chili sauce made it even more addicting!

Bavarian Appetizers
Salami, Forrest ham, Gruyere & Camebert cheese, Pretzel, and Bavarian cheese dip
Bavarian Appetizers

To get an even more authentic feel of the Bavarian culture, we were served with these Bavarian Appetizers. This is not part of the menu and was only provided as part of the celebration. I love the cheeses the most!

Cheese Spaetzle
Home-made spaetzle, baked with parmesan, mozzarella and gruyere
Cheese Spaetzle

Cheese Spaetzle is more of a side or something that can be combined with a flavorful dish. It is light and has subtle cheese flavor but can be tummy-filling.

Spiral Bratwurst (550Php)
Small batch Artisan Spiral Bratwurst with potato salad, sweet German mustard, side salad, and dark beer onion gravy
Spiral Bratwurst

My favorite dish that night was the Spiral Bratwurst. So even though I didn't get to try the Oktoberfest Sausages, I got a hint of how good they will be. This is a huge one and good for sharing. I fell in love with it on the first bite with its smoky taste. The dip is beer-infused which is also good, though I prefer the sausage as it is.
Spiral BratwurstCrispy Pork Knuckle

Crispy Pork Knuckle (685Php)
Draft Gastropub's signature crispy pork knuckle, slow roasted to crisp, with herbed vegetables and pork au jus
Crispy Pork Knuckle

Crispy Pork Knuckle is another great beer-match. It's a huge serving of crunchy pork skin and tender meat. I prefer it to have a bit more flavor though.

It was an awesome and fun night at Draft Gastropub Greenbelt. In case you missed it, you still have a chance to join the celebration as the last of the series will happen on October 29 at Draft Gastropub The Fort Strip. Experience it the Bavarian way, have a taste of Paulaner beer that made history, enjoy live music, participate in the games and you might even win prizes!
