“Babae kasi” used to sound like a limitation.
It’s a phrase many women have heard at some point -- sometimes casually, sometimes in ways that quietly shape expectations.
Recently, Modess reframed that phrase into something else: not a reason to hold back, but something to stand on.
Bringing the Message into Everyday Spaces
As part of its Women’s Month initiative, Modess partnered with Grab Philippines from March 10 to April 9, highlighting women drivers and Move It riders working in a male-dominated space.![]() |

Free pads were distributed to women passengers riding with them -- making something essential more accessible while on the road.
It’s a simple effort, but one that connects directly to everyday experiences.
Stories from Different Spaces
The campaign also introduced Confidence Convos with Cosmopolitan Philippines, featuring women in fields where representation is still limited, including aviation and mobility.![]() |

These stories focus less on success alone, and more on what it takes to stay -- especially in spaces not always built for women.
Conversations at BeautyCon
The conversation carried into BeautyCon on March 20, where Modess brought together women from different industries.![]() |

I was able to watch the discussion, and what stood out was how grounded it felt. The stories weren’t framed as perfect journeys, but as real experiences -- showing up, even on difficult days.
We don't just belong in these spaces -- we elevate them.
- Kaila Estrada
Every time I heard ‘babae kasi,’ I just trained harder. It became fuel.
- Kristine Jane Atienza
‘Babae kasi’ was never a reason to sit out. It's a reason to show up harder.
- Gybel Agregado
Red days, bad days, hard days -- you still show up. That's what confidence really looks like.
- Kaye Martinez-Daly
Hearing these stories made me reflect on my own experiences too.
From being in an engineering class where only 7 out of 36 students were girls, to now taking on both being a mom and a dad as a single parent -- it’s a different kind of space, but the same idea applies.
You show up, even when it’s not expected.
As shared by the brand:
“Babae kasi” may have been used to explain limits before.
Now, it’s being used differently -- by women who continue to show up anyway.

‘Babae kasi’ has long been said as a limitation… This Women's Month, we're reclaiming it as a statement of strength… At Modess, we believe every woman deserves to live fully and confidently, every single day.
