Okada Manila: PLAY turns 1!

PLAY at Okada Manila

This February 2019, PLAY at Okada Manila is celebrating its first anniversary! My son and I joined this fantastic event and we experienced how PLAY is more than just a playground for kids.
all smiles for this 4-year old boy

PLAY stands for Purposeful Learning and Activities for the Young... Aha! So that was an acronym! It is designed for kids and even teens from 1 to 16 years old. As with other play areas, socks are required both for parents/guardians and kids. They are available for purchase if needed.

There are eight (8) areas, or what they call Fun Neighborhoods, inside PLAY catering different ages so kids can develop different skills and unleash their potential.

MY PARTY PLACE
Happy 1st Birthday, PLAY!!

My Party Place is the perfect venue if you want to celebrate birthday parties, events, or other special occasions at PLAY. It can accommodate up to 60 guests. There's a mini stage, an LED TV, sound system, and a backdrop. Party Packages are also available which includes party host, party games and prizes, tables and chairs, theme, and buffet menu.
My Party Place perfect venue for parties and events

We experienced first hand how the PLAY crew hosted the party which we truly enjoyed. My son loved the Zumbastic Dance Contest and received a prize after that. I didn't know he could follow dance steps and would have so much fun dancing.

JANGURU
Janguru a huge slide!

Janguru is a huge play area which includes different levels, mazes, and slides designed for kids 8 to 16 years old. My son is just 4 years old and was afraid to try the huge slides, but he was still able to enjoy the different mazes and levels inside Janguru.

LITTLE PARK
Little Park

Little Park is the more suitable area for my little boy and he got to maximize the activities here more than in Janguru. The height of the slides is just right for him, as well as the levels and difficulties of the mazes.

THE STAGE
The Stage

It's nice to see a platform here where kids can dress up and feel how it is to be up on the stage, boosting their confidence in the process.

MINI ME
Mini Me

Mini Me is a well-padded and enclosed area for toddlers 1 to 3 years old. There's a mini slide, ladder, ramp and blocks that the small ones can enjoy. I really love the idea of having separate spaces for different ages. With my experience before in other play areas when Rhyme was still a toddler, there's a mix of kids of various ages and you can't expect kids to be mindful of the little ones. So I, as the guardian, really had to look after my son every step he makes, and every kid who comes nearby. But here, inside Mini Me, for sure I can have a sigh of relief!

MINI STEPS and WIZARD'S DEN
Add caption

Mini Steps is an interactive mat through the use of a projector. Little kids can also enjoy playing in this area. Wizard's Den, on the other hand, is an interactive video game space that can be enjoyed by much older kids.

SPORTS ZONE
he loves this area! Sports Zone

A favorite area of my son is this Sports Zone. It gives a field feel when playing football which my son loves! The area is enough for him to run around and exhaust his almost unlimited energy. Bigger kids can also play basketball in this area.
PLAY turns 1!

Aside from the different fun neighborhoods, a number of programs are also being offered at PLAY such as:

  • Toddler the Explorer. Fun program for children ages 1-3 years old that targets the development of their motor skills
  • Stage Presence. Fun workshop for children ages 4-16 years old who love to perform in front of an audience
  • Hello, Good Looking! For ages 4-16 years old, this aims to enhance independence in grooming, hygiene, and social interaction
  • Hero Camp. A holistic approach to group fitness for better health and overall well-being
  • Colors and Creations. Arts and crafts sessions enhancing creativity and fine motor skills

PLAY access is priced at Php611+++ for 5 hours; Guardian (at least 18 years old) at Php244+++.
