J.Co Donuts & Coffee: Assorted Donuts

J.Co Donuts & Coffee

Finally, got the chance to have a taste on the country's most popular doughnut, at present. To why and how the craze started is something I have no idea about. I even used to say, "Oh J.Co, just another Krispy Kreme..". But then people continue to go gaga over this doughnut store and even bare the long lines (and I really mean loooooongggg) for almost an hour or so just to satisfy their J.Co cravings. I would have not known about this if not for my friends and people around me who continue to babble about this. I know the questions will only be answered if I get to try it on my own.

After dinner at Greenbelt3, we passed by J.Co Donuts and found that the line is "manageable". This was around 10PM of a Sunday night yet there were still a lot of people. I even wonder if there is a time of the day when no one is buying from this store. The disadvantage that I can think of when buying late (waiting for the queue to minimize) is that there maybe fewer flavor selections, especially if they are already nearing the closing time. Anyway, without further adieu, I present to you the J.Co Donuts. Notice their cute names and appetizing looks!

Since I cannot have a taste on every flavor, I started with the Best Seller -- Alcapone, and it is from here that I judged their doughnuts.

Alcapone

Alcapone has a premium kind (I say premium because of its high quality taste) of white creamy chocolate topped and balanced by sliced almonds that added crunch to the soft and smooth texture.

What is common to all the doughnuts would be the undeniably soft dough. It is also light that I didn't notice I have already eaten 3 flavors consecutively. When it comes to flavor, well surprisingly, it isn't that sweet. It doesn't give you the sugar-sweetness feeling but more of what the flavors are (eg. if it is lychee flavor, the you'll really taste lychee). I guess the doughnut size is relatively smaller than that of Krispy Kreme, and comparable to the commonly-known doughnut stores such as Dunkin' Donut and Mister Donut.

The price is written below. The more you buy, the cheaper a piece gets.

  • Per piece - 42Php
  • 1/2 dozen - 230Php (38.33Php/piece)
  • 1 dozen - 350Php (29.17Php/piece)
  • 2 dozens - 550Php (22.92Php/piece)

Good marketing may have been a reason on why its popularity boomed. But without good quality, however good the marketing strategy is, it would be hard to sustain the customers. For J.Co, it is for their advantage that their product is already the talk of the town. After trying their oh-so-popular doughnut, I didn't find reasons on why people would not give positive feedback.
