Samsung Just Dropped Five New Galaxy Devices -- But the Galaxy Z Fold8 Is the One Everyone Will Talk About

From the Galaxy Unpacked Watch Party to a hands-on experience at the Samsung Experience Store, here's what stood out from Samsung's newest foldables and smartwatches

Samsung's latest Galaxy lineup includes three foldables and two smartwatches, each designed for different lifestyles. I recently got to see and try them during the Galaxy Unpacked Watch Party last July 22, 2026 followed by a hands-on experience at the Samsung Experience Store.

While every device had something to offer, one of them quietly became my favorite -- and honestly, it wasn't the one I expected.

Samsung's New Galaxy Lineup at a Glance

Instead of introducing just one flagship foldable, Samsung expanded the Galaxy Z Series into three distinct experiences. Whether you're looking for a phone that's compact and stylish, built for productivity, or packed with creator-focused features, there's now a foldable designed to fit different lifestyles. The lineup is joined by two new Galaxy watches that bring even more AI-powered health and wellness features.

Samsung didn't just make the Flip thinner -- it made it more useful.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 features an AI-native FlexWindow that lets you check personalized updates through Now Brief, access Galaxy AI features, use Gemini-powered actions, and interact with apps without unfolding the phone.

For content creators, the upgraded FlexCam includes:
  • 50MP camera with ProVisual Engine
  • Cover-screen video preview
  • Super Steady with Horizontal Lock
  • Hands-free Flex Mode shooting

It still has the stylish, pocket-friendly design Flip users love, but now it's much more capable for everyday use.

The Device That Won Me Over: Galaxy Z Fold8

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

Going into the event, I honestly thought the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra would be my favorite. On paper, it has everything you'd expect from Samsung's most premium foldable.

Then I tried the Galaxy Z Fold8.

I liked it the moment I saw it, but I appreciated it even more after holding it, unfolding it, and spending time with it. It just felt right.

I'm very particular when choosing my gadgets. Size, usability, and efficiency all matter to me. If something feels too bulky or awkward to use every day, I usually lose interest pretty quickly.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 checked every box.

At just 201 grams, it's the lightest Galaxy Fold yet. More importantly, the redesigned form factor makes it feel comfortable to hold whether it's folded or unfolded. Samsung's new Flex Titanium display structure also helps reduce the appearance of the crease, giving the screen a cleaner and more refined look.

I also liked how naturally it adapted to different tasks throughout the day.
  • The cover display was comfortable for replying to messages, checking emails, or browsing social media.
  • Unfolding it gave me a larger workspace for multitasking, blogging, editing photos, or simply watching videos.
  • Rotating it made reading articles and ebooks feel surprisingly natural.

Samsung also introduced creator-friendly features like Dual Recording and My FanCam, which automatically tracks your subject and intelligently reframes videos into social-ready formats.

As someone who creates content almost every day, I can genuinely see myself using these features for event coverage, Instagram Reels, and TikTok videos.

Galaxy Watch9: A Smarter Wellness Companion

As someone currently using the Galaxy Watch8, I was especially curious about what Samsung added this year.

The Galaxy Watch9 focuses on helping users better understand their health through more personalized insights. New features include:

Instead of simply collecting health data, the watch turns those numbers into more meaningful insights that can help support everyday wellness.

  • Trail Run mode
  • Nutrition Alert

Final Thoughts

I've attended quite a few smartphone launches over the years, and every new generation usually comes with faster processors, better cameras, and smarter AI features. Those upgrades are always exciting, but this year's Galaxy lineup reminded me that the overall experience matters just as much.

For me, the Galaxy Z Fold8 stood out because it struck the right balance between portability and productivity. It felt comfortable enough for everyday tasks, yet unfolded into a larger screen that made multitasking, reading, and content creation more enjoyable.

My Pick: Galaxy Z Fold8
My Pick: Galaxy Z Fold8

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is still the device to beat if you want the most powerful foldable Samsung has to offer. But if you're anything like me and value comfort and usability just as much as performance, don't overlook the Galaxy Z Fold8.

If you're considering upgrading, I'd recommend visiting a Samsung Experience Store and trying the devices yourself. Specs can tell you a lot, but spending a few minutes with each one might just change your mind about which Galaxy device is the right fit for you.
