5 FREE Web Games to Teach Your Kids Real Life Skills!

These games will allow your kids to develop useful skills in life!

Kids learn the most through exploring and playing. Force a lesson to them and they'll soon forget it. But if you make it fun, entertaining, and exciting, you'll find that it gets embedded in them.

There are several games online that can be played for leisure. But if we are to choose games for our kids, why not include those that can develop their skills and prepare them for real-life situations. Not everything is taught in school and when the time comes for them to go out to the real world, know-how on practical situations will come in handy.

I have hand-picked 5 free web games which are not just educational but are also great way to introduce some things adults do. These can all be accessed using a browser whether on computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. No need to download anything. Play as much as you want with no ads!

Hero Elementary Treehouse Trouble

Hero Elementary Treehouse Trouble

There are two main skills that can be developed from Hero Elementary Treehouse Trouble game: critical thinking and recycling. Blue levels require the player to arrange and use up all the blocks so when the roof is placed, the treehouse will be stable. My son who dreams of being an architect enjoys this game as he gets to design the treehouse by putting blocks at different angles and positions, and then test its stability.

Red levels requires the player to remove unnecessary blocks so they can be recycled. This allows the player to analyze and look closely at the structure to eliminate redundant blocks without affecting the stability of the treehouse.

Cashier Simulator

Cashier Simulator

Cashier Simulator is a great way to improve your kids' math and money knowledge. Whether buying in groceries or stores, money will always be involved so this is a good practice on computing the total price, giving the exact change, and using different cash denominations. Even adults will find this game useful!

I found two games that are perfect to introduce coding to kids: Code Panda and Ben 10 Omnicode. Both games have the same concept but just differ on interface. Code Panda has a simpler format making it less overwhelming especially to kids who wanted to try coding for the first time. Ben 10 Omnicode is more of a 3D and has more special features.

I like that both games enable structured thinking done progressively with every level. The goal is to make the character go from one point to another using simple commands, then eventually using variables and repeat functions. Because of this game, my son found interest in coding which will be beneficial for him.

Open Restaurant

Open Restaurant

Open Restaurant gives an end-to-end view of what a head waiter does -- from seating the customers, getting their orders, serving their food, giving their bill, and cleaning up their table. This simulation allows the player to work on time management and decision making in order to meet the target earning within a period of time. Do you take orders first or do you seat the next customers?

Construct a Bridge

Construct a Bridge

Construct a Bridge tests the players knowledge on structural integrity. This concept is not just applicable to bridges but can also be used in simple real-life situations -- for instance, putting hanging shelves, or building racks. Player will have to design a safe bridge given only the limited amount of materials, while putting support on where it is needed the most, or taking advantage of the islands to reinforce the bridge.

There you have it! Those are the five (5) games I recommend to develop some practical skills on your kids which will benefit them not only now, but also in the future! If you enjoy playing these games with your kids, you can find more at https://www.mortgagecalculator.org/. Enjoy!
