P.H.A.T. Pho: Pho Special, Chilled Shrimp, and more!
P.H.A.T. Pho |
"Pretty Hot And Tasty" -- I guess not all, or just a few, knew what "P.H.A.T." in P.H.A.T Pho is. Interesting, right? Also, the branch in Serendra. Taguig City is the first franchise of this Vietnamese-cuisine restaurant which originated from Cebu.
blackboard wall | How do you like your pho? |
P.H.A.T. Pho occupies a small area in Serendra which I think can accommodate just less than 20 guests inside. The walls are covered in mirrors and black background with colorful chalk drawings and writings. Sample is the one above which provides a guide on how to eat your pho.
rice paper roll and pho |
I usually pass by Serendra going to and from the gym and poof!, I just thought of having a pho that night. It was already late, but they were still open. I always wanted a spring roll/rice paper roll to go with my pho and that night, I also had Kalamansi Juice. No wonder my bill ended up at Php 500+. Next time, I'll just stick with a bowl of pho.
Pho Special (small - 230Php; large - 395Php)
Beef pho broth with shaved U.S. angus beef, braised beef, meatball, and tendon
Pho Special small |
Since this was my first time at P.H.A.T. Pho, I ordered the Pho Special to try the different meat. Although I ordered just the small size, it wasn't really small. The small serving size is good to make one full even without the side orders. I guess the large size is for sharing or for a super hungry one.
Pho was served fast and hot. Herbs like coriander, cilantro, Thai basil, shaved onions and bean sprouts are already in the broth so it was really good and tasty! Indeed, "pretty hot and tasty", huh? I never had to use the condiments such as the hoisin sauce, fish sauce, sriracha sauce, or lime/pickled garlic for the broth as it was delicious and I was satisfied with it. The meat, on the other hand, were all oh-so-tender! The meatball was my least favorite because of its rough texture. I can opt not to have it next time but all the other meat were good. I like dipping the meat on a hoisin-sriracha combination sauce.
Chilled Shrimp Rice Paper Roll (195Php)
Filled with vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms, carrots, daikon, peanuts, and fresh herbs
Chilled Shrimp Rice Paper Roll |
I like that they have different options for the Rice Paper Roll -- Chilled Shrimp as the most expensive. The other two are Marinated Tofu (Php 165) and Slow Roasted Pork (Php 175). I like how fresh the ingredients were but I love the peanut sauce the most! It is the best I've tried so far. My only complaint is that the rolls were cut too big to fit one's mouth, especially this kind of food should be eaten at once as biting it might turned out messy.
Chilled Shrimp top |
I know I spent a lot for a dinner just for myself but I wasn't able to finish the Chilled Shrimp (had it for take-out) as I was already stuffed from pho. It even rained while I was dining which made the experience so right for the weather -- imagine raining outside and here I was, sipping a tasty pho. Will definitely come back for that pho fix.
