Draft Gastropub: Quarter Specials for Q2 Y16

Draft Gastropub

Draft Gastropub is a place where you can just chill, be lazy, chug a beer while enjoying "gastronomic" dishes that perfectly match your drinks. Oh, and when I say beer, I'm talking about premium quality European draft beers. They have a wide selection of local and imported alcoholic drinks. Hint: look around the place.

Iced Tea

Not a beer-drinker like me? Then I recommend their freshly brewed Iced Tea.

A mix of old and new dishes

Chicken Pie (380Php)
Chicken, mushroom and double smoked bacon pie, served Tiger Style with mashed potatoes, mashed peas and gravy
Chicken Pie

Meat Pie (380Php)
Beef and pepper pie, served Tiger Style with mashed potatoes, mashed peas and gravy
Meat Pie

One cannot distinguish a Chicken Pie from a Meat Pie based on the looks. But both are huge chunk of filled buns that look very enticing! Once sliced, the fillings and the toppings get all mixed up. A mess, yes, but that's the fun in it! I personally liked the Meat Pie more. It's smoother and the ingredients match beef better. Chicken Pie is also good, has more texture due to chunks of chicken and mushroom.

Triple Threat Sandwich (480Php)
Roast beef, Hungarian sausage, and slow barbecued pulled pork with caramelized onions & coleslaw served with frites and ketchup
Triple Threat Sandwich

Looking for a meat loaded meal? Triple Threat Sandwich will not disappoint. It's not a burger, it's a sandwich -- a sandwich filled with roast beef, chorizo slices that give some spice, tender pulled pork, caramelized onion for a dash of sweetness, and coleslaw. I never got to try the fries and I only had a quarter of the sandwich yet it's already tummy-filling.

Stracci (Solo - 350Php, To Share - 680Php)
Shrimp, fresh chorizo, chili and homemade spent grain stracci pasta, tossed in butter, parmesan and herbs
Stracci

Stracci is a kind of pasta I've never tried before and it definitely gave a different kind of experience. Draft's version is on the spicy side and that's what makes it best paired with Stella Artois. The pasta itself is malty and has a meat-like texture.

Beignet (220Php)
Twice cooked beignet tossed in confectioner's sugar and served with a warm dark chocolate sauce
Beignet

The chocolate sauce is rich and good, and matches perfectly the Beignet. But the Beignet itself is too filling and not something I would look forward after a loaded meal. So I guess the saying "There's always room for dessert" doesn't apply to this. But this can be a good snack.

All above mentioned dishes are part of the Quarterly Specials to provide new offerings to Draft's new and usual goers. Below are some of the favorites that I also get to try.

Artichoke and Parmesan Dip (290Php)
Creamy parmesan, artichoke, spinach dip and freshly toasted baguette
Artichoke and Parmesan Dip

Artichoke and Parmesan Dip is a good starter with its light flavors enough to tickle the palate.

Classic Baked Cheesecake (325Php)
Choice of blueberry or strawberry or both!
Classic Baked Cheesecake

What I love about the Classic Baked Cheesecake is its moist texture and can be enjoyed as plain as it is. But if I had to choose between blueberry and strawberry, I'll go with blueberry.

Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding (245Php)
With butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream
Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding

Among all the desserts I've tried in Draft, Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding is my favorite! It's non-chocolate but definitely sweet with its toffee pudding. The vanilla ice cream on top is really a match.

It was a fun afternoon at Draft with Chef Carlo Miguel allowing us to try out all the Quarter Specials for Q2 Y16.

Want more fun? Then be at Draft Fort Bonifacio on May 13 at 8PM and experience the Stella Artois 9-Step Pouring Ritual Challenge. Do it nice and clean to win prizes.
