Super Bowl of China: Unlimited Yang Chow, Szechuan Shrimp, and more!

Super Bowl of China - Eastwood

When it comes to family bonding or get-together with friends, one of the common choices is eating in Chinese restaurants that offer casual dining with affordable and for-sharing dishes. Super Bowl of China satisfies these criteria.
modern oriental vibe

Their menu includes typical Chinese dishes, and is simplified that there are only 4 options each for chicken, beef, and pork -- all less than Php400, but more selections for seafood, noodles, and vegetables. Dimsum choices, except the platter, ranges from Php100-160. What's good about Super Bowl China is that they're not only meant for groups but can also cater to those who want to go solo or just have personal meals through their Super Solo Meals for less than Php200.
ground floor set up

This branch at Eastwood, Quezon City has a wide capacity with its two-storey setup. The interior provides a modern oriental vibe characterized by wooden tables, chairs, furniture, and window panels. The huge wall accent visible on the two floors is meant to capture the attention of diners and give idea on the resto's best sellers.

Here are the best sellers and my take on them so you can have an idea on what to order the next time you visit Super Bowl of China.

Dimsum Combination Platter (350Php)
Pork siomai, hakao, deep-fried wonton, vegetarian spring roll, and pork asado. Served with sweet and sour sauce
Dimsum Combination Platter

Undecided which dimsum to order? Have a sample of everything with the Dimsum Combination Platter. I particularly love the hakao fully stuffed with shrimps, and the meaty siomai that is significant in size.
Dimsum Combination Platter Steamed Fish Fillet with Garlic

Steamed Fish Fillet with Garlic (275Php)
Steamed fish fillet with garlic sauce and spring onion
Steamed Fish Fillet with Garlic

Steamed Fish Fillet with Garlic is light and soft, and a great choice if you want a dish with subtle taste to provide balance to all other savory dishes. The garlic taste isn't so strong and helps in palate cleansing.

Half Fried Crispy Chicken (325Php)
Hong Kong style crispy fried chicken
Half Fried Crispy Chicken

Half Fried Crispy Chicken has that thin crisp on its golden skin. I like that the white meat is also tasty and good, and that the flavors were not concentrated on the skin.
Half Fried Crispy Chicken Szechuan Shrimp

Szechuan Shrimp (350Php)
Shrimp sauteed with mixed vegetables, mushrooms, dried chili, and peanuts, in spicy Szechuan sauce
Szechuan Shrimp

Szechuan Shrimp is one of Super Bowl of China's best sellers that is not a typical pick for me in a Chinese restaurant. And surprisingly, this is what I love the most among the line up. The shrimps have good bouncy texture, while the sauce isn't too spicy but more of peppery and peanut taste.

Sliced Beef with Broccoli (365Php)
Seasoned beef slices sauteed with fresh broccoli flowers, mixed mushrooms, garlic, and carrots, in sesame and oyster sauce
Sliced Beef with Broccoli

A common favorite for Chinese beef dish and no doubt a best seller is the Sliced Beef with Broccoli. I love the savory sauce on tender beef and crunchy broccoli flowers. Really good!
Sliced Beef with Broccoli Sweet and Sour Pork

Sweet and Sour Pork (310Php)
Breaded boneless pork sauteed with red and green bell peppers, onions, and pineapples, in sweet and sour sauce
Sweet and Sour Pork

A usual favorite Chinese dish for me is the Sweet and Sour Pork. Pork cubes were coated with breading for that slight crisp. The sauce has that perfect balance of sweetness and sourness which I really like!

Mango Sago (95Php)
Chilled mango puree and fresh mango slices with mini tapioca balls
Mango Sago

For dessert, I always look forward to Mango Sago when dining in Chinese restaurant. I find this too sweet but I didn't mind because I enjoy the mango taste and the small tapioca balls.

Deep Fried Sesame Balls (110Php)
Glutinous rice balls with red bean and sesame seeds
Deep Fried Sesame Balls

Deep Fried Sesame Balls, or commonly called as "buchi", here at Super Bowl of China are really good! The usual impression I have is that it is chewy and too sticky, but oh my... these are soft and effortlessly enjoyable! The red bean filling is smooth and sweet, and a nice complement to the rough sesame seed-covered outer layer.

Ginger Apple Shake (95Php)
Ginger Apple Shake

This is the first time I'm trying this combination: ginger and apple. If you are used to strong ginger taste or prefers it that way, you'll enjoy this Ginger Apple Shake like I did. The apple essence can be felt lightly on the taste but the texture as well as the skin bits are there.
Yang Chow Fried Rice

PROMO ALERT!! You can have unlimited cups of this loaded and all-time-favorite Yang Chow Fried Rice for just Php70. Promo is from January 08 to March 30, 2018 Mondays to Fridays 11AM to 2PM and 6PM to 8PM. Watch out for weekly challenges!
