The Wine Club: Wines and Flatbread!

The Wine Club Bar & Bistro

The name itself is a giveaway that this place is for wine enthusiasts. But more than just a place for good wines, The Wine Club is also exclusively importing premium and ultra-premium wines from California. Given that alone, you might now have an idea on the quality of wines they are serving.

The place is small yet cozy and serves more of a wine showroom than a restaurant. Look around and you'll find the walls are covered with shelves and cellars filled with various wine selections. Despite having a small space, the place managed to provide a rustic Italian ambiance perfect for that quiet private moment alone or with friends.

Rosso di Ca' Momi (860Php - 750ml bottle)
Rosso di Ca' Momi

I have to be honest that I am not a wine drinker, nor any other alcoholic drink for that matter (at least not anymore). But a food crawl by Zomato led me to this California wine haven. Rosso di Ca' Momi originated from Napa Valley, California. They refer to it as a female drink due to its sweetness and hints of berries. Though there is more character to it with its richness and boldness.

If usually you look for a wine that will suit your dish, here at The Wine Club, it's more of you select your wine first then choose a dish that will make a good pairing. Chef Edwin Balitao ensures that you'll find a meal that will highlight your wine experience whether it's steak, pasta, pizza, etc.

Flatbread or pizza makes a good pairing with Rosso di Ca' Momi though I cannot really comment on that part as I'm not knowledgeable enough on that area (willing to learn though!). But what I can comment on is how I find their flatbread even without the wine pairing.

This Meat Lover Flatbread is a balance of meaty toppings and dough. So even though it is thin-crust, you still get to feel the bread with every bite. The style is very much Italian with slight kick of spice from the meat.

I usually go with Four Cheese over other pizza flavors, but not this time. Here, the cheese is very evident but probably lacking sharpness that I get to taste the dough more than the toppings. I prefer it with more amount of cheese, more piquant. But maybe that is really how it is supposed to be for it to be a good pairing with red wine.

If you are a wine lover longing for a cozy quiet place to sip your wine and take your time, then you should definitely put The Wine Club in your list. They also serve starters, pasta, flatbread, steak, etc priced a bit fancy. It's more about the wine anyway and premium California wines are here.
