Wangfu Chinese Cafe: Gen Tso's Chicken, Tausi Fish Fillet, and more!

Wangfu Chinese Cafe

In my continuous search for "value-for-money" restaurants in Serendra-Bonifacio High Street area, I came across Wangfu Chinese Cafe. This Chinese restaurant owned by the famous "Sir Chief" Richard Yap, made me believe that even though you're on a tight budget, you can still enjoy good food and ambiance in a place surrounded by high-end restaurants.

Wangfu offers affordable dishes whether you're dining with family and friends, or if you just want to go solo. They have typical for-sharing Chinese viands, noodles, rice, as well as a range of thirst-quenching drinks. And all of these in a mix of modern and oriental ambiance at par with Serendra atmosphere.

Since I usually dine alone after an "exhausting" workout at Gold's Gym BGC, Wangfu's Personal Set Meal is what appeals me the most. It includes Iced Tea, Unlimited Rice, and Soup. Here are some of the sets I've tried so far.

Crunchy Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee (Personal Set - 198Php, For Sharing - 258Php)

First thing I noticed is that the dish serving size is very much sufficient even if I opt for more rice (it's unlimited rice anyway). Not just for this dish, but for all Personal Sets I've tried. Soup is served hot enough to warm up the stomach.

This Crunchy Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee may appear as your usual sweet and sour pork. I didn't notice much the "crunchy" part, but I know that the lychee gives the oomph in this dish! Not just because I love lychee, but I think the addition of lychee, which blended well with sweet and sour taste, gives a refreshing twist to this dish.

Tausi Fish Fillet (Personal Set - 188Php, For Sharing - 228Php)
Tausi Fish Fillet Set

Wangfu's version of Tausi Fish Fillet has that light flavor which I like. It's not strong nor overpowering, and just matches the fish fillet.

Gen Tso's Chicken (Personal Set - 198Php, For Sharing - 298Php)
Gen Tso's Chicken Set

Gen Tso's Chicken is a best seller, and yes, something I would order again. The presence of chili may seem intimidating but really, I didn't find it spicy. It is more of sweet, somewhat sour. And hey, there's broccoli for a bit of veggie fix.

Crystal Ball Dumpling (98Php)

I don't know what to expect with Crystal Ball Dumpling but it looks good and seems colorful inside and so we ordered this. Though when we're eating it, we still cannot determine what it is. Probably a dumpling with minced veggies and meat, though the veggie taste was more evident.

Japanese Siomai (98Php)

Ah this, I love Japanese Siomai in general and I enjoyed Wangfu's. I was amazed by how "fine" the meat is as if it was not from ground meat. This one is good!

Serving size, taste, soup and drink included, plus the unlimited rice (hooray!), I really believe that Wangfu's Personal Sets can give value for your money. They may not have extra ordinary dishes to rave about but on a regular day, hey, I'd even choose this over food stalls/places (near my workplace) offering around Php85-120 for single-served rice and viand not even half of Wangfu's serving size. The ambiance and fast service would make me prefer dining here over fast food restaurants. I hope to bring my family here next time so I can try their for-sharing dishes.

If you know other "sulit" restaurants around Serendra and Bonifacio High Street, let me know so I can visit. I may not just be aware of them.
